제목 Fabrication of PVA microspheres using freezing-thawing and gamma-irradiation
초록 Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels are very attractive materials for biomedical application, as they have inherent non-toxicity, good biocompatibility and excellent physical properties. As shown through these properties, PVA hydrogels can also be used to fabricate particles for various uses such a drug delivery system, filter material and tissue engineering scaffolds. In this study, PVA hydrogel microspheres were prepared using a water-in-oil method with freezing-thawing cycles and radiation induced crosslinking. First, a PVA aqueous solution prepared at 90 ºC was added to silicone oil. The mixture was then dispersed to form water-in-oil emulsion using a probe type sonicator. Second, the dispersed mixture was crosslinked under freezing-thawing cycles and gamma-ray irradiation. Finally, its physicochemical properties were measured through SEM, FT-IR and degree of swelling.
