Adsorption of Tetracycline on La-impregnated mesoporous MCM-41 material |

La-impregnated mesoporous MCM-41 adsorbent was reacted with the over a range of pH values and different La loading amounts to investigate the effect of La-loaded amounts onto MCM-41 on the adsorption capacity of Tetracycline(TC) in aqueous solution. Maximum TC adsorption (175 mg TC/g solid) to La-MCM-41 surfaces occurs slightly below pH 7 at the lowest loaded amount 5 wt%. Sorption edge and sorption kinetics show that TC exhibits a high affinity for La-impregnated mesoporous MCM-41 adsorbent in comparison with parent mate- rial MCM-41 (22 mg TC/g solid). Based on the results of XRD, pore size distribution, and FTIR, an immoderate substitution of La(III) with silicon occurred at 80% lanthanum impregnation, even though the nano-scale lanthanum oxide was homogeneously dispersed into the mesopore structures of MCM-41. |
