Micro- and mesoporous silicon carbide electrode for electric double layer capacitor |

Three-dimensional silicon carbide-based frame works with hierarchical micro and mesoporous structures (MMPSiC) are synthesized by employing the template method and carbonization reaction. MMPSiC has a unique three-dimensionally interconnected micro and mesoporous network; it also exhibits a fast ion transport behavior and a larger utilization of the surface area of the electric double-layer capacitors. MMPSiC exhibits a high-charge storage capacity, with a specific capacitance of 253.7 F g-1 in 1 M Na2SO4 at 5 mV s-1 and with a specific capacitance of 40.3 F g-1 in the 3-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluorosulfonyl)imide ionic-liquid electrolyte at 5 mV s-1. These results illustrate the great potential of MMPSiC as superior supercapacitor electrodes. |
