Carbon nanomaterials including single-walled carbon nanotubes and graphene oxide (GO) exhibit photo-stable and unique photoluminescence (PL) in the visible and near-infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum, which can be used for signal transduction in sensing. In this talk, the chemical modulation of GO fluorescence, which is much more photostable than the one of organic fluorophores, with a peptide-quencher complex or a metal complex for designing GO-based optical sensors will be presented. In addition, the selective optical detection of proteases or neurotransmitters using the functionalized GO-based sensors will be introduced. |
