Polypropylene/Clay Nanocomposite with Compatibilizer having both high MA-content and improved molecular-weight |
초록 |
Polymer/clay nanocomposite has received much attention for its enhanced properties and many useful applications. As the intercalation of the polymer and exfoliation of the clay sheets are critical parts in the preparation of nanocomposites, various compatibilizers as well as organo-modified silicates have been employed. In our previous studies on polypropylene (PP)/clay nanocomposites using P(P-graft-maleic anhydride) (PP-g-MA) as the compatibilizer, poor mechanical properties, especially impact strength, has been observed for the nanocomposites with high MA-content low molecular-weight compatibilizers. In the present study, we prepared a compatibilizer having both high MA-content and improved molecular-weight was prepared with styrene as a comonomer. Nanocomposites manufactured with the prepared compatibilizer were intercalated and showed improved impact strength than those with a low molecular weight compatibilizer. |
