Either top-down method or bottom-up approach has been attempted to produce CDs with high quantum yield (QY). Microwave-assisted synthesis of CDs from A3 (A: -COOH) and B2 (B: -NH2) type polyamidation monomers is one of effective preparation methods for the synthesis of highly luminescent CD inks with high QY typically more than 10% and low cytotoxicity. However, the utilization of other monomers adapting different polycondensation mechanisms has never been successfully attempted through microwave-assisted synthesis. In this work, 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)butyric acid (BHBA) as an AB2 type polyester monomer has been tested for the synthesis of CDs. After simple microwave operation, blue-emitting CDs with the QY up to 8.1% are easily prepared. 2019년 한국교통대의 지원을 받아 수행하였음. |
