Many studies have investigated the growth of nano tubes, nano-belts, microcages, nano-flowers, nano-sheets, nano-flakes, and nano-plates by controlling the structure and morphology of molybdenum trioxide (α-MoO3) with orthorhombic phase. However, large-sized a-MoO3 crystals could only be synthesized by high-temperature calcination or evaporation. Herein, we developed a method for synthesizing a large sized two-dimensional α-MoO3 crystal using solution chemistry synthesis and organic amines such as mono-amine, di-amine, and tri amine. We studied the morphology of α-MoO3 crystals under the influence of mono-, di- and tri-amines, and found that the multi-amines promote oriented attachment between α-MoO3 nano-belts, thereby extending to produce large-sized α-MoO3 nano-plates. |
