In disease diagnosis, bio-assays like protein assays and live/dead assay are most commonly used. however these assays require steps that are laborious, and time consuming. In this study we have developed ‘Lab on a Tip (LOT)’, which was derived from the concept of, Lab on a Chip (LOC), a term given to a tiny chip like device that can perform various analytic laboratory functions via microfluidics. The concept of lab on a tip is to do an assay with a commonly used lab equipment like a pipette. 3D printer was used to create multi-block pipette tips that can assemble to single tip that can perform colorimetric assays. We have especially developed a transparent 3D printer resin to be used for colorimetric assay. The resin is composed of pentaerythritol tetracrylate as the base acrylate material, photoinitiators and acrylate diluents. The Lab on a Tip made by this resin can be used for easily detecting transition metals or biomolecule in solution (like protein/glucose) by observing color changes. This could prove useful in chemical reactions or other disease diagnosis that require complex steps. |
