polystyrene particles through modified dispersion polymerization |
초록 |
Highly monodisperse polystyrene (PS) particles have received significant attention for their potential applications such as drug delivery systems, biodiagnostics, colloidal crystals and templates. In colloidal photonic crystals, the precisely controlled size and monodispersity is strongly required to exploit visible to infrared light because their optical properties are directly related to the state of building blocks. Hence we tried to develp the synthetic route to produce precisely controlled PS particles in size and monodispersity through modified dispersion polymerization. By the dual functions of ammonium persulfate (APS) as initiator and electric stabilizer, we could successfully control the size and monodispersity of PS particles precisely in a range from 800 to 2000nm in diameter. Furthermore, these PS particles could be readily applied to fabricate colloidal crystals due to its high monodispersity. |
