Photoluminescent carbon nanodots (CDs) have attracted growing interest recently. In comparison to quantum dots (QDs) which are high performance fluorescence, the carbon nanodots are advantageous good biocompatibility. Carbon nanodots potentially were used in many applications in various areas such as optical sensing, bioimaging, biomedical applications and optoelectronics. Carbon nanodots are advantageous both in their green synthesis and good biocompatibility for biomedical applications. We synthesized amino-functionalized carbon nanodots by microwave-assisted pyrolysis using acrylic acid and 1,2-ethylenediamine. As a result, we confirmed carbon nanodots containing amino group by infrared spectroscopy (IR), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). We analyzed optical properties of amino-functionalized carbon nanodots using photoluminescence (PL) and ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy. |
