제목 pH/Temperature sensitive comb-type graft hydrogels composed of chitosan and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)
초록 Chitosan is a poly (β-(1,4)-2-amido-2-deoxy-D-glucopyranose) and can be obtained by the N-deacetylation of chitin, which is one of the most abundant natural polymers and available largely in the cuticle of the crustacean such as shrimps and crabs. Chitosan is biologically inert, safe for humans and the natural environment.
In this study, the carboxylic group terminated PNIPAAm was synthesized by radical polymerization using 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) as a chain-transfer agent with various molar ratios of MPA to NIPAAm. The prepared telechelic PNIPAAm-COOH was interacted with the amino groups of chitosan after adding the EDC, resulting that the amide bonds were formed.
In the swelling behavior, we compared the difference between bulk- and surface-grafting PNIPAAm hydrogels on the chitosan. In addition, the swelling behaviors of the hydrogels were evaluated under the various stimuli such as pH and temperature.
From the results, we expect the comb-type grafted hydrogel composed of chitosan and PNIPAAm can be used in the application for biomaterial.
