제목 | AFM based Nanoscratch Self-healing Studies of Urea-acrylate Copolymer Crosslinkings Composed of Hindered Urea Bonds |
초록 | Self-healing polymers (SHPs) have been used in industries given their prolonged shelf-life and lower manufacturing costs. Polymers with urea bonding are important materials in people's daily life due to their recyclability. When these urea bonded polymers are made in the form of SHPs, they impose excellent properties to the polymer including high strength, tremendous elasticity, and chemical resistance. Hindered Urea Bond (HUB) has been studied because of the reversible bond which enables the polymer to undergo multiple scratch healing. In this study HUB is incorporated in urea-acrylate copolymer by a covalent bond formed between bulky amine group and isocyanate moiety. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was utilized for executing nano-scratches on the polymer surface and the healing process was monitored by the morphological changes at nanoscale.
