Biological Affinity and Biodegradability of PPC |
초록 |
We investigated poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) about bacterial and cell adhesion. PPC was synthesized by copolymerization of carbon dioxide (a global warming chemical) with propylene oxide. We also assessed the biocompatibility and biodegradability of the films in vivo, and their oxidative degradation in vitro. It was found that there was different adhesion characteristic of bacteria species to the smooth, hydrophobic PPC surface after 4 h incubation and no adhesion of human cell (HEp-2) due to the hydrophobicity and dimensional instability of the surface. In contrast, the PPC films showed good biocompatibility mouse subcutaneous environment. Moreover, the PPC films were found to degrade in the mouse subcutaneous environment but on the other hand it showed resistance to oxidative degradation in vitro. All results will be discussed with surface characteristics of the polymer. |
