Synthesis and characterization of Kraft lignin-based polycaprolactone polycondensates for eco-friendly materials |
초록 |
Lignin-based polycondensates were synthesized by two-step sequential reactions with ε-caprolactone and sebacoyl chloride for the development of eco-friendly biodegradable polymeric materials. The hydroxyl groups in the lignin macromonomers were capped with ε-caprolactone through aring-opening reaction followed by a polycondensation reaction to give a lignin-based polycaprolactone polycondensate (LigPCL polycondensate). Using dielectric analysis, the glass transition temperature of the synthesized polymer was measured as 140 oC which should be compared with 61 oC for the pristine lignin. Since a small amount of flexible polycaprolactone chains were incorporated into the lignin macromolecules, the crosslinking reaction was desirable restrained and the resulting LigPCL polycondensate exhibited thermoplastic characteristics. In light of the amphiphilic nature and biodegrability of lignin macromolecules, the developed lignin based polymer could find various eco-friendly applications. |
