제목 Surface-tailored Carbon Dot Surfactants for Producing Polymer Particles
초록 Carbon Dots (CDs) have been considered as effective surfactants for emulsion stabilization due to their nanosized dimension, biocompatibility, and presence of functional oxygen-containing groups. Although CDs have extraordinary potentials as functional surfactans, strong hydrophilic character of CDs limit their application for stabilizing emulsions. Herein, surface property was precisely controlled by grafting hydrophobic alkyl ligands, and we demonstated surface-tailored CDs for stabilizing emulsions and producing polymer particles. The density of hydrophobic alkyl ligands on the CDs and the effect of CDs concentration on the emulsion stability was investigated in detail. Microscopic characterizations were utilized to obeserve the presence of CDs on the polymer particles.
