Hydrogen is one of the alternative energy for reducing greenhouse gas due to climate change. Methanol steam reforming has been attracting attention as a hydrogen extraction method because of its high economic efficiency and practicality in storing, transporting, and producing hydrogen. The Cu/Al2O3 catalyst has many concerns about the sintering of active copper leading to deactivation. In this study, Cu/ZnO/Al2O3, Cu/Gd2O3/Al2O3, Cu/ZnO-Gd2O3/Al2O3 were prepared by wet impregnation by adding Zn, Gd to improve the performance and stability of the catalyst. The catalytic performance: for instance, conversion, selectivity, yield, and stability of the prepared catalysts were compared. Based on the characterization results by SEM, BET, XRD, NH3-TPD, and TPR, the Gd added catalyst was found to have improved activity as well as stability during the methanol steam reforming. |
