Nowadays, poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) has attracted increasing attention due to its renewable resource, biodegradability and biocompatability. In spite of many advantages as a biomaterial, it still has several shortcomings in application of commercial purpose. The mechanical and thermal properties of PLLA are lower than those of general plastics. Recently there has been an increasing interest in researching thermal stability improvement technology for extending application toward a general material which used PLLA. The objective of this study is devoted to the synthesis, molecular structure, and properties of a new copolyester, poly(carbonate-block-L-lactide), through the direct polycondensation of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol A bis(chloroformate) (BPAC), and oligo(L-lactide) (OLLA), for improving the thermal stability of PLLA. |
