제목 Synthesis and Characteristics of New Methacrylate Prepolymers Alternative to Bis-GMA containing Bisphenol A for Dental Applications
초록 The currently used typical dental restorative composite contains a mixture of methacrylates, a photoinitiator system, and a large quantity of inorganic fillers. Photocurable dimethacrylates such as 2,2-bis[4-(2'-hydroxy-3'-methacryloyloxy proxy)phenyl]propane (Bis-GMA) are used in most commercial dental composites. However, this Bis-GMA contains bisphenol A which may have an injurious effect on human bodies to be doubtful as an endocrine disrupter. In this study, some kinds of methacrylate prepolymers having similar structure with bisphenol A have been synthesized for alternative to bisphenol A. The chemical structures of the methacrylate prepolymers were identified by 1H NMR and FTIR. In addition, their viscosity, photoconversion, polymerization shrinkage, water absorption, and mechanical properties were characterized and compared to Bis-GMA control.
