Amphiphilic copolymer, poly(2-hydroxyethyl aspartamide) (PHEA) grafted with lactic acid oligomers (LAs), was synthesized through amide linkage between PHEA and LA and confirmed by 1H-NMR. The self-aggregates in aqueous solution were prepared by dialysis-sonication method and their physico-chemical properties were characterized by light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy. The formation of aggregates was observed by a transmission electron microscope. The solution property was mainly influenced by the degree of substitution of lactic acid oligomer. It is expected that these new products have potential applications as a delivery carrier in biotechnological, pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields. |
