Linear water-dispersible polyesters can be used for water-based adhesives, coatings, emulsions, paint primers, cosmetics and detergents. In this study, water-dispersible sulfopolyesters were prepared by a polycondensation reaction between dicarboxylic acids, such as dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), isophthalic acid (IPA), and dimethyl-5-sulfoisophthalate sodium salt (DMS), and diols, such as poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), ethylene glycol (EG), and diethylene glycol (DEG). The effects of composition of the water-dispersible sulfopolyesters on the water-dispersibility, thermal stability, and spinnability were investigated. |
