The uniformly loaded molybdenum phosphide (MoP) electrocatalysts on N-doped several carbon supports were synthesized via hydrogen TPR method for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The CNT-GR supports consists of well intercalated carbon nanotube (CNT) supports between graphene(GR) layers by preventing graphene re-stacking to serve high surface area. From EIS analysis, we confirmed that the carbon nanotube supports serve high electrical conductivity and graphene supports high surface area. Due to the synergetic effect of CNT and GR supports, the MoP supported on CNT-GR supports shows highest HER activity that that of CNT and GR supported catalysts with around 50mV onset overpotential and 150 mV vs RHE overpotential to drive 10 mA/cm2 in acidic medium. To increase HER activity, we introduced nitrogen in carbon supports. The MoP/NCNT-NGR catalysts show 50 mV VS RHE onset overpotential and 120 mV VS RHE overpotential at 10mA/cm2 current density. And in stability test, it retains the current density after 24 hours chronoamperometric analysis and 1000 cycles cyclic voltammetric tests. The MoP/NCNT-NGR is highly active and stable electrocatalysts for HER in acidic medium |
