In order to impart a recognition function to nanomaterials for the selective detection of biological molecules, it is essential to functionalize their interface with affinity molecules including proteins and DNAs. In this talk, the unique approaches for designing optical biosensors based on graphene oxide (GO), which is an emerging fluorescent nanosheet showing tunable and strong photoluminescence (PL), for the selective detection of neurotransmitters or proteases will be presented. The interfacial functionalization of GO with metal ions or a peptide-quencher complex leads to its selective fluorescence response to the targets. In addition, the mechanism responsible for the selective recognition of the target biomolecules will be introduced. |
