Preparation of PVA/PAA/TiO2-graphene/conducting polymer nanofibers by electrospinning and application to water purification |

Poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)/poly(acrylic acid)(PAA)/TiO2-graphene-conducting polymer nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning for the photocatalytic treatment of wastewater. Both PVA and PAA were used as polymeric matrices to solve the recovery problems. Graphene was used to enhance the adsorption of pollutants and to improve the electron transferring from TiO2. Polyaniline and polypyrrole were used as conducting polymers. These polymer were employed to improve the electron transferring and prevent restacking of graphene. PVA/PAA/TiO2-graphene/conducing polymer nanocomposites were fabricated into nanofibrous shape by electrospinning to have higher surface area. The morphology and structure of nanofibers were studied by scanning electron microscope and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by a UV spectrometer based on the degradation of methylene blue as a model pollutant. |
