Keratin and silk fibroin (SF) have polar and ionizable groups on the side chain of constituent amino acid residues which are able to bind charged species such as metal ions. Through this properties, many researchers investigated the adsorption capacity of keratin and SF with various kind of metal ions. We introduced electrospinning technique which is a method to make large specific area materials to manufacture process for improvement of metal ion adsorption capacity. The keratose/SF blend nanofiber could be successfully prepared by electrospinning. The morphological structure of keratose/SF blend nanofibers was observed by SEM. We also performed the FT-IR, XRD, DSC analysis. And, to evaluate the adsorption capacity of keratose/SF nanofiber non-woven mat, we performed batch test with various factors such as blend ratio, pH, and agitation time. The concentration of copper(Ⅱ) ion was quantitated using inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometer (ICP-AES). The Keratose/SF nanofiber non-woven mat can be expected to be used as a metal ion adsorption filter. |
