제목 Copper ferrocyanide functionalized self-propelled micromotors for selective adsorption of radioactive Cs
초록 When nuclear power plants are dismantled, various types of radioactive wastes are generated, ranging from extremely low to high radioactive levels. Especially, highly radioactive liquid waste has to be treated remotely to reduce the radiation exposure of workers. We attempted to develop a next-generation water remediation technique based on the remote controllable self-propelled micromotor adsorbent that can selectively bind radionuclides and have active movement in a large scale of aqueous environments. For selective adsorption of Cs, the main body micromotor was fabricated by functionalization of mesoporous silica microspheres with the highly Cs-selective copper ferrocyanide, and half of the adsorptive particle surface was then coated with ferromagnetic Ni and catalytic Pt layers to fabricate Janus micromotors. Experimental results showed that micromotors were magnetically steerable, and radioactive Cs could be selectively removed in the presence of competing cations.
