제목 | Pressure Effect on Swelling Behaviors of NIPA/Water gels |
초록 | A gel that is three-dimensional cross-linked polymer shows volume transition between two phases either continuously or discontinuously with various stimuli when it is immersed into solvent. The phase transition of a gel is a reversible. The degree of swelling of the poly(N-isopropylacrylamde) (PNIPA) gels exhibits unimaginable increase under hydrostatic pressure when temperature is close to its volume phase transition temperature. The most important thermodynamic property of gel is the degree of swelling for application. Thermodynamically, swelling behaviors of nonionic hydrogels were interpreted by the polymer-solvent mixing free energy and elastic free energy. In this work, to successful prediction of the pressure effect on the swelling behaviors of hydrogels, we combined the Modfied Double Lattice (MDL) theory containing holes and Flory and Erman's theory of elasticity. And we compared our proposed model with experimental data. |
