Preparation and characterization of semiconductor nanoparticles and polymer multilayered films prepared by self-assembly technique |

Nanomaterials of the IIVI semiconductors can be used as an emitting material in the preparation of thin film electroluminescence devices. Multilayered thin films were prepared by the self-assembly technique of layer-by-layer adsorption of oppositely charged Cadmium telluride nanoparticles (CdTe) and Poly (sodium 4-styrene sulfonate) (PSS). Positively charged CdTe NPs were prepared according to the literature. Prior to deposit positively charged CdTe and negatively charged PSS alternately, substrates were modified and then polyethylenimine (PEI) was deposited as a positive first layer. All solutions were prepared in aqueous medium. Silicon wafer, glass and ITO substrates were used for different purposes. Electro-optical properties and morphologies of the prepared thin films were characterized in detail by UV/vis spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), X-ray reflectivity (XRR), Cyclic voltammetry (CV), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Atomic force microscopy (AFM). CdTe NPs were found effectively deposited in between ultrathin polymer films and exhibited characteristic properties. |
