Cellulose-triacetate-based polymer gel electrolyte for Lithium batteries |

Cellulose triacetate is an inexpensive material with a stiff polymer network and a high density of ether and ester functional groups, which is proved to interact with Li+ ions with hope of fast-ion conduction. In this study, cellulose-triacetate-based polymer electrolyte composed by cellulose triacetate, an ionic liquid (Pyr13TFSI), and Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) is reported. The optimal molar ratio of these ingredients was determined by DSC measurement when a thermally-homogeneous gel phase was obtained, and optically confirmed by SEM. FT-IR indicated that Li+ interact with the polymer network via their functional groups. Moreover, cellulose-triacetate-based polymer electrolyte has excellent mechanical stability and high ion conductivity, which is promising to be applied as lithium battery polymer electrolyte. |
