제목 | Preparation of ceria fine particles with high crystallinity by using various supercritical fluids |
초록 | Cerium (IV) Oxide is currently being used as a chemical mechanical polishing medium, a catalytic support and an oxygen ion conductor in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Synthesis of cerium oxide particle using supercritical water is known to be superior to the other methods from the view point of energy conservation because this method is operated for a short time at comparatively low temperature (350~450 ℃). Moreover this method does not require the step for calcination. In this work, we could prepare ceria fine particles with high crystallinity by using various supercritical fluids, such as water and methanoll. Ceria particle formed with these SC fluids has the size below 100 nm and relatively narrow distribution in all the cases. Especially, cerium(Ⅳ) oxide synthesized with supercritical methanol shows “soft agglomeration”. It is observed that the morphology of ceria could change, according to solvent. Also, we try to find out effects of initial cerium nitrate solution concentration and residence time of reaction, so that we could get the result that the particle size increases with initial concentration of precursor and residence time, respectively. |
