제목 | Characterization of dual-layer filter cakes consisting of perlite and CaO |
초록 | Filter cake formation and structure on the surface of filter medium were studied theoretically and experimentally. The parameters determining the characteristics of dual-layer filter cakes were examined. The filter cake structure (porosity) were theoretically analyzed with a function of operating conditions (pressure drop and filtration velocity) and cake layer thickness. In the experiments, the filter cake height and pressure drop were measured for the filter cake systems consisting of expanded perlite, calcium oxide and EP-CaO particles, respectively. Experimental results were well correlated with the theoretical equations for expanded perlite and EP-CaO, but not for calcium oxide particles. The equations developed in the present work will be useful for the design of filter cake systems with dual-layers. Keywords: Filter cake, Expanded perlite, Cake structure, Void fraction, CaO |
