Carbon nanoparticles of three different sizes were prepared by the pyrolysis of polypyrrole nanoparticles. The carbon nanoparticles exhibited narrow size distribution, uniform shape, large micropore volume, and high surface area. The carbon nanoparticles showed highly microporous compared to zeolite, resulting in loading guest molecules into carbon nanoparticles using phase separation. The carbon nanoparticles sustained in-vitro drug release properties, and the non-cytotoxicity of CNPs with human cells offers potential in bio-application. These results suggest a novel class of carbon nanoparticle drug carriers. |
