Such wearable electronics require stable operation with high performance and robustness during various deformations induced by human motions. The key features for wearable electronic devices consist of soft, flexible and stretchable materials with specific designs to avoid the mechanical mismatch between human body and devices. Here, we present materials and advanced design strategies for the core elements of wearable electronics, such as transistors, charge-trap floating-gate memory units, and various logic gates in the stretchable configuration. The use of semiconducting carbon nanotube networks integrated with charge traps and ultrathin dielectric layers demonstrate consistent electrical characteristics as well as the enhancement of the deformability using the serpentine interconnections and neutral mechanical plane. Repetitive stretching tests and studies of mechanics corroborate the validity of the reliable operations for skin-based systems. |
