Supramolecular Interaction of Beta-cyclodextrin Containing Polyelectrolyte mutilayers |

Cyclodextrins are cyclic polysaccharides that have hydrophobic interior pocket and hydrophilic exterior rim. They have been used to dissolve hydrophobic drugs in water media through host-guest complexation. We synthesized beta-cyclodextrin polymer that has choline chloride groups as charged units. We used this polyelectrolyte with oppositely charged polyelectrolytes to construct polyelectrolyte multilayers. The films were deposited by Layer-by-layer deposition and studied for host-guest complexation. Using weak polyelectrolytes, we have created PEM films prepared in different pH conditions and compared their properties such as wetting and surface morphology. In addition, we have studied hybrid films of organic self-assembled monolayer and polyelectrolyte multilayers. |
