Fabrication and Evaluation of Biological and Mechanical Properties of Hybrid PLCL 3D Porous Scaffold |

As human life expectation is prolonged by the development of medical technology, the importance of health became one of most important factors affecting the quality of life for the elderly. Consequently, tissue engineering attracts more attention to provide better resolutions for bone-related disease. Bone substitute grafts in 3D porous scaffolds can be on of suitable choice for this problem. In this study, we fabricate 3D porous scaffolds using poly(lactide-co-ε-caprolactone)(PLCL) synthesized by copolymerization of lactide and caprolactone monomers. PLCL is known to be excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability. The scaffolds are reinforced by ceramic particles to improve biological and mechanical properties of the scaffolds. The physical and chemical properties of the prepared scaffolds were examined using SEM, EDX, FT-IR, NMR, and GPC. Thermal property was analyzed using DSC. The biological functionality of the scaffolds was characterized by cell assays using osteoblast. |
