Various organic functionalities have been introduced into mesoporous silica frameworks or surfaces, which satisfy requirements for applications such as catalysis, separation, sensing, and drug delivery. We prepared multifunctional mesoporous silica particles by sequential modification. Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) donor moieties were first introduced into a silica framework using a functional silica precursor, and then the surface of the silica particle was selectively functionalized with polymerizable acryl groups. After surfactant extraction, FRET acceptor moieties were attached to pore walls. A thin film was prepared by radical copolymerization of the functionalized silica particles with an acryl monomer and their FRET effect was investigated. |
