We present here an analysis of Flory-type interaction parameter χ for block copolymers from small-angle scattering experiments. Although such scattering measurements provide a useful tool to elicit χ , the resultant χ parameter not only contains a bare interaction, but also is a complicated function of many other molecular parameters. Among them, we focus on the effects of concentration fluctuations and finite cmpressibility on the scattering χ. A Landau analysis for the incompressible copolymer systems is first employed to interpret such χ in the mean-field sense. The fluctuation effects are considered next by using a Hartree analysis for the same systems. In a later stage, a more general treatment, based on Cho's recent compressible RPA theory, is provided to study the features of the systems due to their compressible character.
