We successfully fabricated sub-kilogram-scale of exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets (xGnP) with multi-layered graphene sheets using a simple mild-oxidation of pristine graphite. In particular, a substantial amount of trapped water molecules in xGnP made it a good ionic conductor. The xGnP-based line heater showed efficient heat propagation with uniform temperature distribution and an energy consumption could be saved up to ca. 37% in comparison with the graphene-based heater. Especially, the steady-state temperature increased as the applied voltage increased and it could be reached to 172.3 °C at a driving voltage of 14 V. In addition, the xGnP-based line heaters had a 25 °C higher temperature under a bending radius of 4 cm. Most of all, the screen printing of xGnP provided a means to easily control the film’s shape and size, suggesting its application to the production of cheap, lightweight patch heaters for industry. |
