Synthesis and Characterization ofa New Bithiazole-containing Conjugated Polymer |
초록 |
During the last decade, field of electroluminescent conjugated polymer research has grown rapidly due to possible applications to organic electronic devices such as polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs). Much effort has been done to tune the optical and electrochemical property of the polymer. However, widely-known polymers, poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) derivatives and poly(fluorene) derivatives are generally hole-conductors. Here we introduce electron-withdrawing bithiazole group to the well-known fluorene polymer main-chain. Bithiazole-containg polymers were reported to be good n-dopable materials. In addition, compared with earlier reports of bithiazole homopolymers, dialkylfluorene moiety prevents packing of polymer chains, which is the reason of fluorescence quenching and low efficiency. Poly(4,4’-dihexyl-2,2’-bithiazole-5,5’-diyl-alt-9,9’-dioctylfluorene-2,7-diyl) (PHBTzF8) was synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction. The polymer was thermally stable up to 388 oC with 5 % weight loss. Both solution and film of the polymer showed UV-vis. absorption maxima at 410 nm. Solution and Film of the polymer showed photoluminescence (PL) emission maxima at 489 nm and 510 nm, respectively. Cyclic voltametry (CV) was used to study electrochemical property of the polymer. LED device fabrication and characterization studies are in progress.
