Melted monoolein and cinnamic acid, together with buffer solutions (pH 3, pH 5, pH 7, and pH 9.0), were used to prepare lipid cubic. TEM was taken to show the bilayer structure of lipid cubic phase at the nanoscale. Polarized microscope was taken to observe the cubic-reversed hexagonal phase transition, and it shows that the phase transition temperature decreased with increasing cinnamic acid content and decreasing pH value of lipid cubic phase. Release of cationic dye from cubic phase was inhibited with increasing pH of release medium and cinnamic acid content. In contrast, release of anionic dye from lipid cubic phase was facilitated with increasing pH of release medium, but it is not obvious that the cinnamic acid has effect on anionic dye release from lipid cubic phase. |
