The characterization and application of polymerized hydroxyethyl acrylate and methacrylate family |

Methylmethacrylate(MMA)and butylmethacrylate (BMA) are two kind of methacrylate family members. In this paper, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate(HEA) were used to copolymerized with MMA and BMA to form two kinds of thermo-sensitive amphiphilic polymers: P(HEA-MMA)s and P(HEA-BMA)s. The 1H NMR spectrum of P(HEA-MMA) and P(HEA-BMA) in D2O was obtained . The optical density of P(HEA-MMA) and P(HEA-BMA) solution began to increase around 37 ℃, possibly due to the thermal collapse of the copolymer chains.. The air /water interfacial tension of P(HEA-MMA) and P(HEA-BMA) solution were increased by the content of the hydrophobic co-monomers increased.The mean diameter of the micelle of P(HEA-MMA)s by DLS and that of the micelle of P(HEA-BMA)s changed depends on temperature change. TEM photos of P(HEA-MMA) micelles and P(HEA-BMA) were taken to observe the size and the shape of micelles. |
