Organic solar cells (OSCs) have attracted much attention due to light weight, flexibility, and low cost by solution process. In date, OSC based on poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) as donor and [6,6]-phenyl-C60-butyric acid methyl ester (PC60BM) as acceptor can achieve a power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to ~5%. However, there is limit to commercialization due to relatively broaden band gap and low open circuit voltage (Voc) with PC60BM. In this work, we focused on low band gap polymers and successfully synthesized new donor polymer based on D-A type containing thienothiophene segments used as π-bridge. The polymer shows low band gap characteristic by electron rich and extended π-conjugation length of thienothiphene. The device performances of bulk heterojunction OPVs with new p-type polymers and PCBM will be presented. |
