Synthesis of BiVO4 Nanoelipsoids Using Microwave Process and Their Photocatalytic Activity under Visible Light Irradiation |

MW-assisted process was used for the crystallization of BiVO4 catalysis, combined with the introduction of OA as surfactant. The properties of the synthesized BiVO4 samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM).The photocatalytic activity of as-prepared BiVO4 catalysis were evaluated by testing their ability to decompose RhB under visible light with using a sacrificial reagent and compared to that of commercial TiO2-P25 materials. The as-synthesized materials are shown to have a pure monoclinic phase BiVO4, but BiVO4 prepared without oleic acid shows a poor crystallinity.From DRS results, BiVO4 samples displayed the absorption spectrum up to the visible region so their activity was better than commercial TiO2-P25 materials. BiVO4 synthesized by the microwave method performed good activity for photocatalytic reaction due to the higher surface area of smaller particle size. |
