The cathode of a metal-air battery, such as in Zn-air battery, is comprised of a catalytic active layer and a gas diffusion layer (GDL). The effect of the gas diffusion layer on the performance of a metal-air battery is often overlooked. Currently, there are several commercially available Carbon materials that can be used for gas diffusion layer; so far, their influence on the electrochemical performance for ORR and OER in an alkaline solution is yet to be assessed. In this study, several cathodes were prepared, containing Lanthanum Strontium Cobaltite (LSCP) as the catalyst in the catalytic active layer, while different types of Carbon materials were used as the GDL. The effect of the type of GDL used on the ORR and OER electrochemical performance of Lanthanum Strontium Cobaltite (LSCP) catalyst in an alkaline solution was evaluated. |
