Pulmonary disease is a term implying several types of lung-related illness. For the proper treatment, delivery of specific drugs into the lung tissues is necessary. In this sense, submicron-sized particles are widely utilized because of their tendency to accumulate in the lung at the early systemic circulation. Herein, we developed a biocompatible microcapsule that could deliver versatile drugs specifically into the lung tissue. The biocompatible polymeric microcapsule was fabricated by double emulsion method, which was composed of biocompatible polymers. By diversifying the composition of these polymers, we could control the capsule size up to micro levels. Then, the delivery of encapsulated model drug into the lung tissue was demonstrated by observing the endowed fluorescence properties in/ex vivo. It is plausible that our microcapsule could be utilized as a therapeutic agent for pulmonary diseases with the appliance of appropriate gene drugs. |
