The octanol/water partition coefficient is one of the major parameter used in predicting the fate and behavior of organic compounds in the environment. In this work, Kow were determined for six ether compounds of di-n-butyl ether (DBE), diisopropyl ether (DIPE), propyl vinyl ether (PVE), methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE) and tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) by using a slow stirting (SS) method. The experiments were carried out at four temperatures of 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K, and the influence of temperature on Kow was discussed. Additionally, measured Kow at 298.15 K were compared with the estimated values by segment-contribution method. |
