The properties of carbon fibers are decided by the chemical and physical characters of their precursors. The controlled molecular weight and low polydispersity index are essential requirements for high performance carbon fibers. In this work, well-defined polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber precursors are obtained by solution polymerization. The effects of various experimental parameters, including the concentration of chain transfer agent and reaction temperature were investigated. The properties of synthesized precursor were discussed in GPC, NMR, and FT-IR measurements. |
