The purpose of this study was to synthesize acrylic resin emulsions containing chitosan and chitooligomer. Chitosan and chitooligomer can easily be dissolved in organic and inorganic acids. Therefore, chitosan and chitooligomer hybridized acrylic resin emulsions were prepared by emulsion polymerizaion using an acrylic acid. Antibacterial activity, solid contents and viscosity of acrylic resins were measured. The antibacterial properties of chitosan and chitooligomer hybridized acrylic resin films were superior to those of the acrylic resin film. Throughout this studies, these acrylic resins were demonstrated as environmentally friendly materials. |
