제목 Synthesis and Characterization of Polyimides Containing Cyanobiphenyl (CB) Mesogen in the Side Chain, and Their Rubbed Nanofilms
초록 Polyimides are well-known high performance polymers, and widely used in liquid crystal alignment layers for flat-panel displays because of their unique properties, such as excellent thermal and mechanical indurance, dimensional stability, and film uniformity.
In the present work, a series of new polyimides containing a liquid crystal molecule in the side chain were prepared from PMDA derivative (synthesized via consecutive reactions from duroquinone) and commercially available aromatic diamines by two-step process to obtain films (thermal cyclodehydration below 230℃). The inherent viscosities of poly(amic acid)s were measured in the range of 0.19-0.30 dL/g, and the complete imidization and the chemical structures of polyimides therefrom were confirmed by IR spectroscopy as well as elemental analysis.
After the structures and properties of polyimide films in bulk state were elucidated with TGA, DSC, and XRD, the anchoring behavior on rubbed surfaces of polyimide thin films were investigated.
