Solid Oxide Fuel Cell(SOFC) has many application areas from the micro-power supplier of several watts to the centralized power plant of several hundreds of mega-watts. POSCOPOWER, a subsidiary company of POSCO for electricity generation, has started their fuel cell business with MCFC at first, and is now conducting an active R&D program for SOFC. RIST/POSCOPOWER is aiming the development of SOFC stack and system for the application areas of dispersed generation(DG) from several kilo-watts to a mega-watts scale. The scope of R&D includes the large area cell fabrication (up to 1,000 cm2), the design and alloy development for the interconnects, and high performance stacks and systems. In this presentation, the achievements and status of SOFC R&D at RIST/POSCOPOWER will be addressed. |
