제목 Syntheses of Functional Nanostructured Materials for Smart Displaying Applications
초록 A series of amphiphilic triblock copolymers containing a polyfluorene (PF) block segment were successfully synthesized through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). To enhance solubility and processibility of PF in the practical displaying applications, poly[oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate] (PEGMA) and poly(hydroxy ethyl methacrylate) were used as end blocks. 1H NMR and GPC were used to confirm the molecular weight and structure of these triblock copolymers. We also investigated the UV absorption and photoluminescence of these polymers both in solid state and selective solvents.
Electrophoresis phenomena of organic or inorganic nanoparticles were used for displaying applications. Electrophoretic inorganic and polymer particles were prepared by sol-gel processing and emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization, respectively.1-5 Hollow titania nanoparticles, prepared by a polymer colloidal templating strategy, were successfully tested for electrophoretic display. Parallely, colored electronic polymer particles were prepared by high temperature-assisted dyeing. Several dyeing processes were tested to obtain the optimum dyeing condition for the polymer particles. Our synthetic efforts successfully produced colored polymer particles without altering the size and morphology of the polymer particles. The morphology of the colored particles were characterized scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV/visible spectrum (UV/Vis), photoluminescence spectrum (PL). The electrophoretic property of these colored nanoparticles was also characterized.
